How the play ran

This is the same play as the one below, run again with different candidates. Two engineers out of Palantir, one forward-deployed and one now at Meta, presented to venture firms whose portfolio companies hire exactly that profile.

The goal was never to place someone at a16z itself. It was to get into the conversation. Their C-suite and Operating Partner replied the same week, asked to meet both engineers, and pulled in a16z's recruiting lead and his co-head.

That is the whole point of the play. One reply from a firm at that level puts our recruitment partner in front of a portfolio that hires continuously, and every introduction after that costs nothing more to earn.

How the play ran

This was an MPC play for one of our partners. The operator above is one of their MPCs. The goal was simple: get on the call. Once you are in the conversation you have options: pitch the MPC, the recruitment service, or another MPC. Getting on the call is the entire game.

On the call, the Managing Partner had no role for the MPC, but liked the value prop enough to introduce our partner into his portfolio. That intro turned into two signed Account Executive placements, both in telecommunications, at $125K to $240K base.

One VC relationship is worth far more than a single placement. This one firm opens the door to 15 other portfolio companies. Do even decent fulfillment across that network and it compounds into a money printing machine. One email got us in the door.
